Workshops and Weekend Classes

Concert/Harmony and Chamber Singers have a pre-semester overnight camp before classes begin in August.

All performance ensembles have a mid-semester workshop on select weekends in October (Fall Semester) and February/March (Spring Semester). Primes/Prelude, Mezzo/Melody attend for a half-day, while the Concert/Harmony workshop is overnight.

Attendance at all workshops is mandatory as this is our main choreography learning opportunity.

Occasional weekend classes are required for all choirs to help prepare for combined performances.

Chamber Singers have pre-semester workshop in August and January (Sunday prior to start of each semester), as well as additional classes for their summer tour in June.

Performances

All performance ensembles perform at major concerts in December and May. Additional classes are scheduled in advance of each major concert.

There are additional performances throughout the season.

Tours

• Primes/Prelude Choir – Day trip in April/May (South Florida day destination).
• Mezzo/Melody Choir – Overnight trip to Disney (park and performance or workshop) in April/May.
• Harmony Choir, Concert Choir, and Chamber Singers – Members may individually audition to participate in honor choir festivals put on by the American Choral Directors Association and UNF’s “Jacksonville Sings.” Previously there was an annual summer tour in June/July (national or international, 4 to 8 days).

Extra classes are held in advance of each tour.
